The Life of a city PA- Secrets Exposed

My Dream Bag List
Well another week has blown by, as per usual its blown by with a few speed humps here and there. I was on my health kick this week. Monday was the start I woke up super early to my boyfriends disgust. Running it was at 5:30 in the morning of course a coffee was the reward. I bounced into the office quite literally on my workout and coffee high! Monday was filled with running in to my bosses office while he threw faxes, files and other paper work at me. Among his demands for the week
1. Flights for a holiday to Hawaii
2. All last months clients with names starting with Kyl
3. Import this impossibly challenging named champagne from France
4. Coffee Coffee Coffee

Among my weekly tasks these were the big ones. As I cruised around the net looking at Hawaii and resorts I dreamt of the day I could be lying on a beach with nothing but a worry of which cocktail I was going to drink next. I started eating my carrot sticks actually quite a nice change to the muffin I would devourer. Mike noticing my change made jokes about my butt getting smaller and how I would soon turn into a rabbit! He then provoked me to break the diet at 12:35pm, " Wanna go to Grilled for lunch". "NO"- I sat and at my salad and water in my cubical. Dodging all the looks of disgust from the small of the salad dressing.

Tuesday

4km run- followed by a large skinny cap YUM! Again bouncing to work early I got to watch Amy arrive to work, wearing nothing but head to toe Marni. How I wish I could one day look as chic and luxurious as her. It is my dream to own an Hermes one day as any one of my friends and they will also tell you how much they know I want one. Now people may not understand spending 10,000 in a handbag but it is an heirloom one that could be passed down and treasured for generations. Tuesday was also the day that Big Mouth Elise found out about my diet.

As per usual by 5pm that afternoon everyone knew I was on my diet. Which meant Wednesday would be the true test as everyone was known to taunt a dieter in our office.

Wednesday

I slept in as it was too cold to get out of bed at 5:30am. Yes this is where I cracked, the day got progressively worst, Mike brought in fruit loaf from Suite Commuter Coffee YUM! I had half a slice. Then lunch, Elise had organized an office lunch date these usually went for an hour or two, sushi it was, I chose to go with salmon roll, Ok now I stuffed my face and I was feeling low what would get me back on track??? No-thanks to Mike we stopped to get frozen yogurt. The afternoon was filled with lollies and coffee. What a failed attempt. My reasoning was that my boss was onto me about all the clients with names starting with Kyl there was hundred and he wanted all files UGH!!! Needless to say the night wasn't any better.

Thursday

I felt like I was hit by a bus, and a big one! I roll out of bed 5:30am today will be different my mantra for the day. And it was I accepted defeat from Mike and Elise yesterday and they were happy that they broke me I heard about it all morning. My boss on the other hand was on about his holiday to Hawaii telling his fiance he had organized it, "Fat chance of that as it was all me". I met the girls Thursday night instead of dinner and drinks we go to a Boxing class. Wow what a workout.... My little arms have never been so sore and sorry for them self!

Friday

Ok list complete for the boss, eating healthy 7/10, working out 4/5,  happiness 8/10, it would have been a 10 but I miss out on bidding for this to die for Marni Bag on ebay I guess this is the only way I will ever look as luxe as Amy thanks to ebay and the outnet! Until next week Xx

The Life of a city PA- Secrets Exposed

My to die for purchase that nearly gave me a to die for heart attach- Vivienne Westwood skirt

Wow, what a week.... 4:57pm Friday afternoon- I am sitting at my desk awaiting the last minute requests from my boss. These last minute requests usually begin with a need a quick favor. Which then results in an hour long task, then a phone call to the boyfriend pleading that he take me out to a FAB dinner to help fix my not so FAB headache. So as I await the weekly " last minute request" I will fill you in my my CRAZY week!

MONDAY:
Started as per usual 6AM , I awake to my small hair ball of a dog jumping on me, yes it is breakfast time. I wipe the sleep out of my eyes my boyfriend grunts and rolls over and goes back to bed some people have the life ( being a financial adviser sees him sleep till 8 and home by 6), as I was saying while wiping the sleep out of my eyes I found a text message: Get to the office asap. 3 extra hot coffees and two bagels. This would be my boss. Its not even 6:30am as I leave the house next destination the local coffee shop by my office. In my sleepily stage I order the wrong coffee and 4 bagels my boss unhappily accepts them. Monday seemed to drag along in the same manner as my morning started. Friday cant come any quicker!

TUESDAY:
Tuesday came and went nothing to report home about, I did learn to never get a blow dry (at Cor Corz amazing) however never get one when its raining and you have to walk to the train station.

WEDNESDAY:
Work was busy my boss was in full steam ahead mode as I like to put it. Elise the 25 year old 'BIG MOUTH' was about her usual business, gossip however I found solitude at the fact that while she was gossiping no one told her about the awful green piece of lettuce stuck in her tooth for all to see. Wednesday night finds me at Zuri, why because that is when my four girlfriends and I sit down to feed out faces full of sushi at Zuri, among a few cocktails. Seems to make the week a little more bearable! I find out Zoe has a new boyfriend whom I am dying to meet, Jaz is obsessed with her new Marc Jacobs bag- it seems to be her newest addition to her growing closet, Erin is always talking about the next to die for spot we should all be at and Lala is just the usual relaxed and content, I look up to her nothing ever seems to bother her no matter what is happening.

THURSDAY: OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE DAY FROM HELL
Started as per usual my small hair ball of a dog jumps up notifying me that is is breakfast time, however something was different my boyfriend whom usually is next to me is on the couch, MAN FLU.... need I say more, all morning he was whinging and whining. I think I used every sympathetic bone in my body to deal with him. As I go to get dressed my amazing vintage Vivienne Westwood skirt is ripped, how I don't know either the boyfriend or the dog, both of which will deny this catastrophe ever happening. In my traumatized stat I call elaundry. The elaundry valet man meets me on the corner of my office block, I gave him my precious skirt all while trying not to cry.

I drag myself up to the office in no mood to deal with Elise whom is stuffing her face full of sugar, however I cry to Mike about my skirt and talk about man flu. I find out my boss is on deadline and that I will also be chained to my desk until 9pm that night. I was suppose to race home and start designing a new look for my somewhat growing clothing line. Now that plan will have to be put on hold...

10:30pm I get home to find both my boys ( dog and boyfriend) sitting on the couch eating Doritos, I asked where dinner was with out a minute I got the excuse that, " I was too sick and thought you would have had something at work"- I went to bed hungry, annoyed and tired...

FRIDAY:
Yes the end of the week, thank god! I will be stuck at work until 6:30pm, it has been confirmed the late Friday afternoon favor will take an hour and half. On a happy note my boyfriend is Man Flu free and we are going to a Fab dinner in the city- I guess things are looking up- until next time Xx

The Life of a city PA- Secrets Exposed

So I find myself sitting here on a Monday afternoon in my office cubical my boss somewhat of a brilliant man, no fashion sense and no clue of a real relationship or how one works, sitting in his overly large office with his head lost in his laptop probably reading a large case brief about some poor lady who he plans to tare shreds off in court...

I have Elise a 25 year old, in the cubical to my left whom is known around the office as one of the best up and coming lawyers in the firm, however I know her as having one of the biggest mouths in the firm. Great for when you need every one to know   about something asap, a nightmare when you really don't want anyone to know something and somehow "Big Mouth Elise" gets hold of the info and like a gun shoots it around without any concerns who finds out.

Then there is Mike sitting across the way also a hard hitting lawyer type whom has impeccable taste in fashion, food and everything to do around town, some would think only a gay man would have such great taste however get to know him and under that fab style and class he is just " One of the guys".... Drinks after work seem to prove this!

To the office in the corner with that great view of the city is a Christian Louboutin wearing, luxe Louis Vuitton carrying, only will wear designer labels female executive, Amy. I race to work from my somewhat pointless train ride ( I mean I board the train at less than 15 km from the city and it takes over 30mins to the city by train, need I say more) I race to work to see Amy arrive to work, and when she arrives its like a fashion show, while I am drooling and growing even more jealous by the minute over her amazing clothing, bags or killer heels that I only seem to be able to afford on ebay and at the really really amazing sales in December or digging through a thrift bin. I one day aspire to be like Amy well I aspire to have Amy wardobe one day! Amy is amazing, smart and somewhat of a killer in the lawyer world. She arrives into work at 7:30am and does not leave her office until 6pm sometimes I think she is a robot. Seriously who can pull off being amazing and smart at work and dressing like a model everyday! I barely have enough tim to pick up a new pair of Tony Bianco's on the weekend let alone seem to have an endless supply of designer clothing.

Among many others on our floor my life revolves around being somewhat of a "slave" to these people and in the next few weeks I am going to write about the lives of these people as any PA will known you get to know all the in's and out's being a PA to some of Brisbane's elite!

So buckle your self's in fellow fashion lovers, office slaves and anyone who wants a good laugh because I am armed with secretes and a lap top and I am prepared to use them! Until next Monday I wish you a happy week! CC x

NEW SEASON TRENDS!

1. Sixties Style

Think classic shift dresses, big buttons, simple tailoring, powerful prints and primary colours. I’ve seen some great dresses in Dotti and Sheike, and quintessential mod coats in vibrant orange at Marcs and David Lawrence.

2. The Print Clash

Mixing prints is the perfect way to create a unique style and have fun with your Autumn/Winter wardrobe. Keep the colour palette to 3-4 colours and you can’t go wrong. Try leopard print with florals or stripes with geometric patterns and have fun!

3. Texture Mix

Much like mixing your prints, another great trend is mixing contrasting textures for a beautiful luxe feel. I love sequins, wool, faux fur and leather combinations – perfect for layering up while still looking glam. Portmans has gorgeous faux fur stoles available in on-trend jewel tones which are a steal at under $50.

4. Ladylike

In a nod to the 1940s we’re seeing gorgeous floral day dresses, pretty lace detailing and bows galore. For a demure daytime look that’s perfect for work, try a pussybow blouse with a lace pencil skirt. Review and Forcast have some adorable pieces.

5. Jewel and Deep Tones

The colours of the season are rich and luxurious, and most importantly incredibly flattering on many different skin tones. They also look fabulous mixed together. Try emerald green and mustard yellow, or burgundy red with teal blue. Novo Shoes and Rubi Shoes have some great colour combinations in their ranges.

6. Accessory Trends

The cooler months are the perfect time to accessorise to the max and there are some great trends on offer this season. From 70’s tassels and fringing, to colourful felt fedoras, ladylike leather gloves, faux fur stoles and scarves, accessories are the easiest and most affordable way to inject new trends into your current wardrobe. Collette Accessories and Rubi Shoes have a great range of accessories to add the finishing touch to your look.
Get set for a new style season! We quiz stylist Josie McManus from Westfield, on which fashion trends are ruling the runway in time for autumn 2012.

Budget Beauty Thrills: Dry Chapped Skin

Avocados and honey are particularly moisturizing. This mask is particularly great for mature, wrinkled and dry skin. It's best to use a ripe, fresh, organic avocado. Make sure to mash it up into a creamy pulp.

Avocados are also great for deep conditioning dry hair. See my avocado and banana hair mask recipe.

Ingredients:

•½ avocado

•¼ cup honey

Preparation:

A classic recipe for dry skin. Mash the avocado in a bowl, then stir in honey.

Apply to skin and leave for 10 minutes.

Rinse face with a cool washcloth.

Ingredients:

•1 tsp powdered milk

•1 tbsp runny honey

•1 tsp aloe vera gel

•2 drops essential oil

Preparation:

This is a classic milk mask for the face. Mix ingredients well, apply to face, let sit for 15 minutes, wash off with warm water. This recipe is enough for two. (Note: The original recipe called for 1 tbsp pulverized almonds, but I have removed it from the ingredients list because almonds, no matter how pulverized, can tear at skin).

Brown sugar is a wonderful natural exfoliant that works for all skin types. I adapted this recipe from one suggested by Lena Korres, founder of Korres Natural Products, and makeup artist Jemima Kidd, in the July 2008 issue of Cosmopolitan. They recommend curing chapped lips by mixing brown sugar with honey and massaging into lips.

Ingredients:

•1 tablespoon brown sugar

•1 tsp (more or less, add drops if you need them) of olive oil or extra virgin coconut oil

Preparation:

Put the brown sugar in your palm

Add the olive or coconut oil

Stir in your palm with your finger, creating a paste.

Add or less as needed

Massage into skin in a circular motion.

Rinse off with warm water.

Press a warm washcloth into face.

Slather your skin in your favorite moisturizer or follow with a moisturizing mask.
