SCREENPRINTING!

Toni-Maree and I have been having lot's of meetings lately about my Boot Bag - we've nutted out the final design, fabrication and fine tuned a few design hiccups. The next step is to have a sample made! I have so much to be thankful for - without Toni-Maree this dream of mine would never have become a reality.

With the Boot Bag well and truly on it's way, our conversations have recently turned to other fashion design opportunities. I have only ever wanted to design items that there is a true need for - like my fab tote bag. So I thought, what about gorgeous screen printed t-shirts? Toni-Maree and I got creative on Photoshop for a day, and this is what we came up with...

These are the two designs that I feel really represent ME as a person. My love of animals (especially birds!), my appreciation for my job, and my adoration of New York City.

We've decided to have the two designs above screenprinted, as well as my chandelier design in different sizes on white t-shirts. I found an amazing company called Aftermath Screenprinting & Clothing Co on an online fashion discussion board who can do this for me. I've chosen white ibiza t-shirts - they're high fashion slim fit tee's with a rounded neck and super soft fabric - love them!

As well as the t-shirts, I'm screenprinting shoe bags (because who can live without these?!) and maybe even towels or tea towels.

The Camelia Carlton Logo is HERE!

I've also got big news about my Boot Bag - I've consulted Toni-Maree and she knows the people who can make my bag a reality! I am BEYOND excited!

Since everything is moving so quickly now, my thoughts turned again to my logo. I needed something that screams Camelia Carlton, something glam, stylish and a little bit quirky. I've been on the hunt for a few days now, and think I've FINALLY mastered the Camelia Carlton logo! I decided to go with the camelia flower dotting the "i" in my name, so needed a silhouette - a tree, an animal, nothing seemed to fit. Then it struck me - the chandelier. It's classic, timeless and oh so me.

Solving My Handbag Dilemma

As a PA I can't begin to tell you the amount of STUFF that piles up on my desk (and under it), in the boot of my car and all over my living room at home. From Mr. X's dry cleaning and paperwork to my own text books and gym gear, it's a mission and a half trying to lug it all around in my high heels. My calves are killing me!

I'm feeling very inspired lately (after creating my own logo), and since I'm on the ETERNAL hunt for the perfect handbag, I thought to myself, why not design one yourself?

I put pen to paper and this is what I came up with...

It's a larger-than-life tote bag in heavy duty, durable and washable black fabric. I think every one should own a black bag to cart around all their stuff - it won't stain! Anyway, the bag will have sturdy, short handles for easy lifting, an iPhone and magazine pocket for convenience, key toggles and much more. I've tentatively named it the Camelia Carlton 'Boot Bag', and it will of course feature my fab logo on the side.

I'm not sure where to go from here, so I'm going to ask my godmother Toni-Maree who is in the laundry and fabric industry about her contacts.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, this could be the start of something HUGE!

Creating My Logo

I found this picture in my web-browsing travels the other day, and OMG I love the colour! It inspired me to think about my own personal mantra in life, and that in turn encouraged me to get a bit creative with my own 'personal logo'. As you know, my name is Camelia, which is also a beautiful flower!

I went with a more 'hot' pink because that's my favourite. Then my thoughts turned to fonts. I need something a bit fancy-schmancy, a little bit 'posh' if you like. This is the font that spoke to me...

I'm still playing around with the design of it all. I could take the giant Camelia flower and write my name underneath in Scriptina font, or I could dot the i in my name with the flower. Decisions, decisions...

An Update from Last Week

OFFICAL UPDATE FOR CONVERTING YOUR DOWDY BOSS INTO A FASHION ICON!

If your following me on twitter you'd be well aware that over the past week I've been "discretely" (read: not-so-discretely) passing on ideas and suggestions to my boss, Mr. X.

Mr. X (my lab rat) is responding very well to the "boss improvement" treatment. The positive signs that assure me that he is doing well are as follows:

  • His shirt & tie combo's are less mismatched and more Ralph Lauren quirky
  • He knows that shops like Marc by Marc Jacobs exist, and sell nice suits. As opposed to Target..
  • Has given his PA (ME!) an honourable mention for the discouragement of black suit pants and brown shoes
  • And is it just me or does he look more confident? Maybe I need to clean my eye glasses.. Wait I don't wear eye glasses?!
Until next time,
